A Photograph Is Memory In The Raw. - Carrie Latet | Week In Photos

Happy Friday everyone! It's been a while since I have shared "week-in-photos" with you, so here they are!

Dinner at Yamashiro's last night! My hair was a mess, I twisted it with a butter-based product, because I wanted more of a fluffier look. Instead I got an un-defined mess. Ah well.

Pics snapped earlier in the week from my test shoot with Lo!

I think she's still sore from squeezing into that tiny space!

I picked up these high-waist shorts last night after dinner from American Apparel. They have the cutest zippers along the side, and I loved the fit. The light coral color is what drew me in.

I also got this pink petticoat, and blue long-sleeve lace bodysuit [pardon the black bra].

I am fascinated with the buildings downtown! I make a trip down almost every weekend just to shoot!

The buildings have so much character!

I love snapping pics of worn, weathered buildings with fire escapes!

I decided to climb up one and get a better view.

While snapping pics of buildings, I ran into Lo [what are the odds]. No kidding. She was Downtown pulling clothes for a client.

Later on that day I picked up some seed beads for my jewelry line.

Here I am a few days later at the Bilal concert

A couple of days ago, I had a late breakfast at my new favorite cafe; Crave. I ordered the usual...Strawberry Crepe's...

Pix From Last Night + Who Will I See Tonight @ Bilal's Concert?!

Last night Lo and I checked out Yamashiro's Farmers Market! Think uber swank eats like Duck Contif Tacos with Wasabi guacamole, Australian Cappuccino and Chai, freshed shucked Oysters, peach cobbler with agave nectar in lieu of sugar, and a wine tasting menu that would suit even the most discriminating of tastes!

We will also be at Bilal's Free concert tonight at The California Plaza! [350 South Grand Los Angeles, CA 90071] - Bilal will be backed by the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble [which just happens to be my fave] and Tributes to J-Dilla, Michael Jackson & Herbie Hancock will be in order, it is definitely not something you want to miss! If you are in the L.A area, and want to listen to good music FREE, come through!

I am also interviewing Bilal today so if anyone has any questions; please leave them in the comments. I will check them periodically throughout the day, and pick a few to ask :-) Hope to see some of you there!

Yamashiro's is nestled in the heart of the Hollywood Hills and boasts breathtaking views of Los Angeles! It's the perfect backdrop for wine tasting, live music, great eats, and and a super friendly atmosphere.

I would put this in my list of date-friendly places for those that want to shy away from "dinner & a movie"; bring your date to the Farmers Market and try new foods, dance to good music, and watch the sun go down together! Come on luvha's!

They had tons of fresh organic produce!

The crepe's looked delish!

Later on that night we decided to stop by Kitchen 24 to have drinks and desert! I got the red velvet cupcake :-)

Lo decided on the Strawberry Shortcake!

I wore a billowy dress from Arden B- and my Jeffrey Campbell Wedge Boots. For the chica that asked about my clutch bag a few days ago; I purchased it about 6 years ago at the Louis Vuitton store inside of The Beverly Center. It has a "belt" that you can string through the back to wear as a fannie-pack but I never do..lol

Girls About Town - Chi Town Part III

On the 3rd day of our Chicago trip, we decided to go back to the Taste of Chicago to eat [of course], and people watch.

I don't remember what these were, but they looked good!

Some pizza Lo picked up

While making our way around the Taste, I met some of the sweetest ladies who recognized me from the blog.
Thank all of you for the kind words, and for stopping to say hi! It's always fun to meet people in person!

After eating I thought it would be cool to snap pics of other fierce naturals at the Taste! I am going to start carrying my camera around more often to snap naturals about town. Thank you to everyone who participated!

I loved her Bohemian look, and I loved this guys curly fro and beard!

I loved this chica's lilac dress, and her hair & skin was amazing! -  This woman's fro was lush, I had to snap a pic!

After taking pics, Lo and I made our way back to Kean's house to get dressed for dinner

We made our way to Japonais

I had an Asian Pear Martini to start; it was absolutely delicious!

It was so good I had another!

My dinner came, and it was amazzzzzing! Filet Mignon w/Uni Butter - White Miso Truffled Potato Puree & Grilled Asparagus

Everyone was all smiles after dinner & drinks!

Noelle invited us to Crimson Lounge after dinner, and of course we obliged!

Another night of dancing, good eats, and plenty of laughter!

Windy City Part Deux

The weather in Chicago was absolutely wonderful! We slept in the second day, and decided to treat ourselves to mani-pedi's & a light lunch with the boys. The top picture was taken around Hyde Park which is near the Obama residence. I heard his street has more security than Fort Knox, so we didn't even try to make our way over there.

Someone asked me how my hair got so big, I believe it was due to the humidity in the air. I seriously had to twist it every night to keep it from turning into a ginormous fro. I twisted my hair dry, and decided not to add any additional product, because I didn't want that "stiff" look.

In other hair news, I decided to give myself a micro chop [only 2 inches] to give myself more volume and hopefully rid myself of some of the ends I have been holding on to for the past few years. I plan on doing this sometime today, so of course I will document the process. I really want to "shape" my hair because I am tired of the moppy mushroom look, but I think I will wait and have a professional take on that task.

After getting our nails done, we decided to change clothes and head to the Taste of Chicago. Our friend Kean egged us on big time, and we had a mini shoot in the garage. Fun times.

We saw a cool ladder, and took advantage of the opportunity...lol
We got to the Taste kind of late, so we decided to just walk around and get a quick bite and return the next day when we had more time.

I got this delicious caramel upside down cupcake. I wish I would have purchased another for the road, the cake literally melts in your mouth. Hopefully I find a similar recipe online!

Later on that night we went to a rooftop party Kean's friend hosted in the Meatpacking District of Chicago. The view of the city was absolutely amazing, and again his friends made us feel right at home. I had fun getting to know everyone, and for the first time in a long time I can say my shyness wasn't an issue. I am not quite the social butterfly as of yet, but I am getting to a place where I don't mind social settings with new faces, in fact; I am starting to embrace it.

After the party, we all caravanned over to a club where we literally danced till dawn. My feet were hurting so bad the next morning, I thought I was going to need foot surgery...lol
