My Top 5 Under 5

Just a note that some of these prices vary from store-to-store! So I put in a range for reference!

NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil In "Milk" [$1.99 -$4.99] - This is the BEST "base" since sliced bread. Not to be confused with a "primer", I apply this over Urban Decay Primer Potion, and under my eye color of choice. This makes my eye shadows POP!

Herbal Essence Hello Hydration [$2.99 - $4.99] - This little cheapie conditioner works better than those I have splurged $14 bucks on [yes $14 is a splurge for me]. This stuff packs a lethal moisture punch, and you can also use a heating cap to amp the ante a tad!

Eco Styler Gel w/Olive Oil - [$2.99 - $4.99] This no frills gel does it's job, and does it well. This is the ONLY gel that can tame my hair, and gives me a perfect, sleek bun every time.

Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar [$3.99]- I use this bar about once a week when I shower [I use it on body not face], it gives me super clear, smooth, glowing skin.

MAC 239 Eyeshadow Brush Dupe | Loew Cornell 3/8" Maxine's Mop [$3.79] - This brush packs on color like nobody's business!! I never knew that brushes played such an instrumental role in the application of makeup until I used this brush to revisit colors that didn't work well for me in the past.

What are your fav products under $5?

  2. I went to google the Urban Decay Shadow Insurance, and what came up was Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Is this what you were refering too. I just want to make sure, since I need to get something to make my eyeshadow stay on longer.

    Thanks!

  4. Lol @ 14 dollars is a splurge, I def. feel you on that!

Great picks!! I need to look into the last three you listed... I def. agree about the first two. Funny thing is that those Herbal Essences shampoos and conditioners do work very well! I actually did a post about Garnier hair products not too long ago and I think I'll be going back to the Herbal, lol.

Have you ever tried Montagne Jeunesse face masks? They are about 2 bucks @ Ulta (not sure where else you can buy them besides online). They are very nice for the price! Try the face tonic one if you haven't already, it feels very cooling on the skin. And their chocolate one moisturizes the skin very nicely.

  6. I have a question! What is a good lightweight cover up? I'm not a normal makeup girl, I normally just use, mascara, lip gloss and sometimes a neutral eye shadow. I tend to stay away from makeup, because I don't want to break out (in the T zone)...but I want a more polished look, but natural and I am interested in playing with eye shadow colors. I have been on and off with makeup since high school. I'll buy it and may use it for a couple of months then I may be go a year or two before I buy or wear anymore (except for the mascara, gloss & maybe some eye color).

I want to start playing with lip colors also.

  8. @Anonymous I have tried it, but I think I was a little heavy-handed with it...so I am going to revisit it sometimes soon.

@TKOmulatta Ooooh thank you for the recommendation!! I will definitely check out those products you mentioned...because $2 is my type of party! LOL

@Niika You have to get one :-)

@ShandyLand You definitely have to try Makeup Forever Face & Body Makeup! It's what you are looking for...that sheer coverage that gives you a polished look! I love it, and haven't found anything I like better. If you are interested in dabbling in colors, start on the low end like NYX or, if you want to shell out the big bucks, you can try my favorite brand NARS, their eyeshadows are amazing.
