Product Review: Carol's Daughter Hair Milk Line

Recently I had the opportunity to select some products from the Carol's Daughter line to review, so I decided to choose the Hair Milk Line, as well as the Tui Leave-In Conditioner.

My Thoughts On The Shampoo: There aren't too many shampoo's out there that can win my favor, but this one is definitely a keeper. Even though it is SLS free [which is a major plus], it still managed to get my hair clean without that squeaky, stripped feeling. The bonus? My hair was soft, shiny, and full of curls!
I had to take a picture of this because you know I am usually one to complain that I have zero curl definition; this definitely lived up to it's claim! The pics really don't do it justice!

My Thoughts On The Conditioner: This conditioner is THICK which is a good thing considering my hair laughs at any conditioner thinner than the consistency of yogurt. I used this without heat so I would truly know how this product worked; needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Usually any conditioner that works well without the assistance of heat is a friend of mine. My hair was soft, manageable, shiny, and the curls were poppin'!

My Thoughts On The Tui Leave-In: I used this before adding the hair milk curl booster, and it made detangling my hair a breeze. I separated my hair in about six sections, and lightly spritzed each section prior to detangling. I like that this is light enough to use for free flowing hair styles, as it doesn't leave a sticky, tacky residue; just soft shiny hair. This will definitely be a staple for wash n go's, refreshing twists, and daily moisturizing.

My Thoughts On The Hair Milk Curl Booster: I'm going to have to say this is my favorite out of the bunch. I was a little worried that the consistency of this wouldn't quench my curls, however it did that and then some. It managed to moisturize my hair without leaving a greasy residue, which I appreciate greatly. For once my curls were defined without cooing and prodding. Because my curls were so defined from using the products above, I decided to add a little bit of gel and wear my hair curly for the day!

Here's the pic:[I swear I don't do my hair while in heavy eye make up, it was for a YouTube tut]

I suppose that giddy grin means I am happy with my new products...lol

A day later I decided to shampoo, condition, and moisturize my hair [with the same products]; I then twisted it using only the Tui Leave-In & Hair Milk Curl Booster as my stylers. I let it dry overnight, and untwisted my hair in the morning. Hello curl definition!
This was the finished product:

Would I purchase these? Definitely. Any product that works to keep my hair soft, shiny, and free of frizz whilst enhancing curl definition is a keeper. That takes the 95% of the fuss out of doing my hair, as lack of definition, and moisture is usually what precedes a bad hair day.

    8. omg your results look amazing! I've been afraid to try CD because many people say her products smell very strong. But looking at your results makes me think they would be perfect for my curls.

      What was the consistency of the curl booster? And how did it look by the end of the day?

    20. Okay, your review is what makes me want to try this product. I saw your recent video on YouTube about blue eye makeup and said to myself that you make me sick with your pretty hair!! LOL I'm looking at how defined your curls are and was amazed with the results. I normally don't go for wash and go's because I don't feel it is fitting to my hair type but you make me want to try this Carols Daughter product :). The stuff looks expensive all together, maybe when I have a few extra dollars I will splurge. Thanks for your honest feedback regarding the product. I really appreciate it!!!

    26. @Mystic Jungle; Definitely give them a try! Thank you for the compliment!

      @Sasha-Shae; Thank you sis!

      @Curly Hair Styles; Thank you, check them out; it will definitely make it in my rotation of staple products.

      @Sheena LaShay; How lucky are you?!?! Let me know how you like them!

      @Dkelly; Thank you, lucky you! I love Sephora! Have Fun!

      @jlowman1; Thank you; definitely try them out. My fav hands down is the Hair Milk!

      @classicbeautyn; You are welcome! Enjoy!

      @BreukelensFinest; I actually enjoyed the scent, it definitely wasn't overpowering. The strongest smelling product out of the bunch was the Tui Leave in, but it dissipated after a few minutes. - The consistency of the curl booster was like that of Nivea Lotion minus the greasy feel [I hope that was a good enough description..lol] - The next day [after my wash n go] my hair was still soft. My curls were smashed because I didn't wear a bonnet. All I had to do was spritz with water..and it was back to normal.

      @Takeysha; Yup, I just plopped it in my hair, no combing, no raking. I was afraid I would mess up the curls.

      @vonnie; Thank you very much!

      @Kristen; Thank you very much..definitely give it a try!

      @M I N G; You can always try the trial size to see how you like it.

      @JIN; Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy them as well!

      @JIN; Thank you, that is kind of like a first for me.

      @Nikita; I will ask her today! :-)

      @honeybrown1976; It's amazing isn't it? I need my late pass stamped! LOL

      @rockinthatbling.com; You're welcome, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

      @Deys; Thank you! I will ask her today!

      @InnyVinny; LOLLLL!! You are my new favorite comedian!

      @Davina916; Thank you!

      @Hell Notes for Beauty™; Thanks! Oooohhh If you cave and buy the line, let me know how it works for you!

      @Jeannette; You're welcome! Thank you very much for the compliment! If you try the line, please let me know how you like it!

      @Anonymous; You are welcome; thank you for the compliment. Here to report that my hair still feels soft, and moisturized. I re-twisted it dry last night so that I could see how long it lasts before I have to re-hydrate it. So far so good.

      @Calming; Thank you very much! If you try it, please let me know how it works for you!

      @Margaret; Thank you!! I used Eco Styler gel, and I just plopped it on. I was too afraid to mess up the curl pattern, so I just plopped/scrunched on the gel..and let it air dry without touching it.

      @Anonymous; Thank you very much for the compliment :-) I am actually not paid to do reviews. When I am provided with a product, I will clearly list that it is gifted; and I will give my honest review. Those that have been following my blog know that I complain of lack of curl pattern, as you can see from the pictures, my hair is much curlier than my normal wash n go's. This is why I provided detail pictures so that my results would actually match what I thought about the product.

      @ShandyLand; Thank you!! I am glad that you appreciated the review! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

    28. I've been using CD's Frizz Fighter Collection for the past few months, really hesitant to try this new Hair Milk line, as my hair didn't really respond well to the Hair Milk, but I may have to rethink my stance, because the curl definition just from using the shampoo is crazy!!!

      ReplyDelete
    29. Cool, I have been using the regular hairmilk for atleast 8 years now and I use the tui hair oil even longer, so it is nice to know the additions to the line are equally as good.

      ReplyDelete
    30. *drool* I think this warrants a trip to CD!

      ReplyDelete
    31. your hair looks AMAZING!!! Not to say that it doesn't always look great but I mean this look is just crazy! I really cannot wait to take my braids down and start experimenting.

      ReplyDelete
    32. Have you ever tried Curls product? Otherwise, if so how would you compare Curls to Carol Daughter's Hair Milk Line?

      ReplyDelete
    33. It is so shiny, definitely makes me want to give these products a try seriously thinking about my fall hair lineup. And your disclaimer about wearing makeup while doing your hair, crack me up!! Peace and blessings, thanks for sharing.

      ReplyDelete
    34. Great results! I love the hair butter and mimosa honey...trying to cut down on my pjism, but may have to experiment with some of the new stuff in the future.

      ReplyDelete
    35. please, I hope you get back to this post! I have a question about the curl booster. I am brand new to this and I'm wondering if you can use the curl booster to do a twist out? Or is this line strictly wash and go? Thanks in advance for you help!

      ReplyDelete
    36. I tried CD line you demonstrated and I must say that I did not like it, mainly because if you dont have natural curly hair(mixed hair) this will not work(even though your hair is curly when you wash it)! You did an excellent job of enhancing the curls with gel and water. I should have done this as well, but did not want to deal with after results(dry tangled mess). Now The Tui Leave in Conditioner I use and I love it!!! Good product by CD. CD has a number of good products that I love! Another staple I have of CD products is the Mimosa Hair Honey!!! She incorporates a lot of products that are designed for all hair types. I have extremely dry hair and I am trying to find products that will eliminate the dry hair/scalp(Looking for hydration products,please help). I have a question what do you think of Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Shampoo and Conditioner? I use both and I like them. My hair is queaky clean when I wash w/the shampoo and the conditioner is just as perfect. For anyone who is going natural one of the lessons that I have learned is that you have to find what products work on your hair. I admit I am a hair junkie and I am starting to narrow down what works for me and what does not. MOPTOP MAVEN have you tried KINKY CURL PRODUCTS? Maybe this can be your next challenge?! I have tried Kinky Curl and I love using this on my hair. Take a look into this product and give it a try just put in your search engine Kinky Curl.

    37. I LOVE the Hair Milk Line, I've tried other things because I usually use the Hair Milk Original - Curl Definer instead of the Hair Milk Lite - Curl Booster and sometimes it makes my skin too oily, but I ALWAYS find my way back to this line. I wish they would sell them all together as a set instead of buying them separately. I think I'm going to try the Booster in lieu of my definer based on this review!

      Thanks!

    38. Your hair looks gorgeous! I will be buying theses products asap!
