Missing Summer - 2010 Winter Hair Reggie

We haven't even gotten to the point of torrential downpours and I still miss Summer!Granted the forecast says 77 degrees, and we are in the beginning of January, but that still isn't warm enough for me. However, with the changing of seasons, should come a change in your hair regimen. Us curly girls need a little more moisture in these frigid months. Extra moisture can mean the difference between blah frizzy curls, and fireworks!! Here's what I plan on doing to keep my hair uber moisturized.
  • Shampoo TWICE monthly - (Keracare Hydrating Shampoo OR Aveda Damage Remedy)
  • Clarify ONCE monthly - (Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo)
  • Deep Condition TWICE monthly (with heat) with Jessicurl Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment
  • Wear my hair in two strand twists, for one week, and a twist out the next week (from the same set of twists)  re-twisting in six twists at night if necessary.
  • Twist my hair using Oyin's Honey Hemp Conditioner, & Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding.
  • Moisturize my hair daily with Oyin's Juices & Berries
  • Seal in the moisture with Monoi De Tahiti Oil
  • Henna/Indigo mixture every 6 weeks.
That's all chica's! What are changes are YOU making to hair regimen this winter?

  2. I am rollersetting my hair prior to bunning. Basically, I am making sure my hair is always dry when I am outside. I am searching for a moisture+protein mix for my hair, i'm using more moisture than before though.

  3. Wow, thanks again for helping me get a good regimen. Our straight regimen and twistout regimens were somewhat similar before, but your posts on lhcf & fotki added the finite and tailoring details I needed...

  4. You are my muse! I know you probably have this posted somewhere BUT what is yoru summer regiment? I live in Arizona and I need lots of moisture. Also, I am about to BC tomorrow :o) I was on your site ALL night, and I ordered Jessicurl to deep condition,
Afro Detangler for... another yt'er recommended it.
    Juices and Berries to moisturize,
Afroveda Citrus Sunsilk to seal in moisture
And Komaza hair milk and pudding for styling.

My question is what do I use for a daily moisturizer? To keep it nice and soft...

  6. Hi MYM,

    Love your site!

A little confused: I notice that you deep condition more frequently during your sumnmer reggie but if we need more moisture in the winter then shoudln't deep conditioning be done more frequently during this time instead?

  7. Girl, please let's keep it real! It's NOT frigid @ 60 degrees Cali or not! Try 30, 20 or 0 degrees with a wind-chill factor...not that's COLD!
