It feels like it's been forever. I've been uber sick as of late which took a toll on my blogging. I took these pics last time I met Lo for dinner, but didn't get a chance to upload them till now.
Lo and I made our way to Philippe Chow for a end of the year recap. We got together to discuss how we felt about this year, and what we can do to make next year even better. We have both pushed each other beyond the limits of what we thought was possible, and as a result we definitely feel we have evolved since our first "grind session" a little over a year ago. This year we're claiming more clarity, freedom, and continued blessings.
I wore some sort of tutu dress with a slouchy, scalloped sequined tank I picked up at Max Azria
Forgive the crappy pic quality. We were taking pictures in the ladies room, and the lighting was pretty awful.
Lo wore an all black number with a belt I hope she gives to me... lol
We both had the Beef & Broccoli; the beef in this dish are tender pieces of Fillet Mignon
If you love a good cocktail, you have to try the Philliptini - It's sweet, with a bit of a kick. - I curled my hair in gigantic curls using a 2'' barrel curling iron, then I set them on large rollers for about 20 minutes. This creates bouncy curls with a little bit of volume.
Lo did a Bantu Knot out for a change of pace from the straight hair. She uses Bantu Knots in lieu of heat in between styling visits!
I'm catching up on posts today, so check back for the remainder of the product recommendations + regimen posts, and info re the first giveaway!

OMGosh...I want friends like you both. That is one of wish; hopefully in this new year. What makes your friendship look so blessed is that you guy both are filled with ambition and working with each to get there. That's beautiful. Not much black women run into friendships like that. BTW I love LO's dress...very nice
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit, definitely will be putting something similar together.
ReplyDeleteLo is just adorable. You two are too fly for your own good.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your nude lipstick. I've been trying to find a good shade for brown skin. What brand/color is it?
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the tutu! Happy New Years ladies!
ReplyDeleteFirst, Happy 2011! Second, love the looks and the glow both you and Lo are rocking. Third, who makes the watch (I'm REALLY into watches lately) and the lipstick? I was doing the same as others, checking a few times a day for the new 2011 posts, LOL. In the months since I found your blog, it has become one of my daily go-to sites and I am glad all of us are going to have a prosperous, joy-filled year in 2011!
ReplyDeleteYou both look gorgeous! Happy New Year and continued success in 2011. So glad you started your blog. Your drive, style and life philosophy have all really inspired me.
ReplyDeleteNow product questions. LOL. I've been looking for cuff similar to Lo's forever. Can you check where she picked them up?

First, I must say you girls look gorgeous!!! (But that's nothing new!)
ReplyDeleteI have a question regarding Lo's bantu knot out. Whenever my hair is pressed I can never get it to stay in knots because it is far too slippery and silky.
If she used any at all, would you happen to know what product Lo used on her hair when she did the bantu knots?
xox,

ReplyDeleteI can't believe you ladies, don't you do Internet searches or look at the fashion magazines to get an idea of what styles you like and that look good on you. Also, there's a whole 'nother world on the Internet to check out fashions! Go visit your local dept stores to window shop and try on things. And how is it that you don't know about makeup colors (go visit the MAC counter or Sephora store and talk with and let the makeup artist help you (both are also online). Why is it you fawn over one person who no doubt employed these various ideas and use it to her advantage. You ladies too can be like Moptop, if you just put forth the effort!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years ladies!! Nik we can trade my belt for your tutu, I am still trying to find a way to sneak it from you!
ReplyDelete@Denia I experienced the same issue with my hair slipping, do you secure your ends with bobby pins? This helped me tremendously, for strands that slip through the bobby pin I just leave more hair out and use another bobby pin to secure that. Also, I prefer smaller bobby pins to grab my ends and keep them secure. I put a silk scarf and satin bonnet over my knots as well to make sure they stay secure. I hope that helps!

I got my cuffs from Forever 21! I got them pretty recently so you may be able to come across a pair, good luck!
The two of you remind me of myself and my best friend Misha'el. When we were living in L.A. (she's still there) we would meet eachother for dinner, go out, shopping and push and encourage eachother. We're still doing it 3000 miles apart but of course we dont get to hang as often.
ReplyDeleteEvery girl needs a friend like you have in Lo and as I have in Misha.
You two ladies look gorgeous! Happy New Year!

Yay! Perfect timing I was feeling old with the ever-growing greys and I didn't want to loose one strand from over processing..(I'm taking the challenge) and well I've been obsessing about every strand that comes out. Thank you Thank you thank you for a beautiful alternative for my black hair.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years ladies....Hi Nik, I need help!! I've been natural for about 6 years but after flat ironing, coloring and blow drying I've had to do the big chop numerous time. I've really fallen off as far as taking care of my hair. I need a jump start. I'm a bit overwhelmed after reading about all the products to try to rid my hair of it's damage. I need a 1, 2, 3, step to get me going. What should I do. I have type 3c/4a hair. My hair is really brittle and short at the crown and straight and long in the front. I'm currently using Kera Care Dry and itchy scalp shampoo and Miss Jessies Rapid Recovery Treatment. I usually moisturize my hair with Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme. Please give me your best steps to get my hair back in tip top shape.....thanking you in advance.
ReplyDeletebeautiful ladies enjoying the night, I love your tutu, its adorable.
