The second day I wore a 70's inspired outfit I picked up from Forever 21 the night before at about 1AM. Gotta love NY.
My mom and I left our hotel bright and early, hopped on a subway and headed to Williamsburg for breakfastI immediately fell in love with this area
The buildings had so much character!
We decided to have breakfast at Egg
Egg is a quaint little eatery with very fresh, inexpensive food
The atmosphere was friendly and inviting...they even had crayons and paper on the tables. I did some doodling and people watching whilst waiting for my food...I ordered Eggs, Toast, Hash-browns and Candied bacon...
My mom had Duck Confit...
After eating, we walked around Williamsburg and snapped pics...
After falling into a few shops, we headed back to Manhattan
We stopped in Bryant Park to drop in some of the shops...
This sandwich shop had amazing eats...
We hung out in this area for a while and took in the beautiful colors of Fall...
After making our rounds, we had to head back to Harlem to pick up more fabric....then we stopped in Sylvia's....
I had the usual...Fried Chicken, Greens & Yams - My mom and I then killed more time walking around Harlem which ultimately resulted in us missing our first flight....good times..

Next time you are in Harlem, NY stop by Amy Ruth's. I like it better than Sylvia's not so canned food tasting... But all in all good soul food. http://www.amyruthsharlem.com/

You guys look like you had a pretty good time. I love Egg, good choice! You really thought the weather was nice? Being an LA girl myself, I feel like the weather has been rather brutal lately. You're definitely a trooper! Fun times :-)
ReplyDeleteHey! I'm the one who flagged you down in F21 lol. Thanks for being so cool to us and for introducing us to your mom (who was really sweet:)). How long did you stay in there? I barely escaped with my wallet and sanity intact lol.
ReplyDeleteBest,
D
What an absolute blessing to have such a wonderful relationship with your Mom. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletebeautiful mother and daughter. Wish I could vacy with my mom, but she's way 2 conservative for most places and spots I want to check out. Haven't been to NY since I was 12 yrs old, I'm planning to check it out next summer God willing.
ReplyDeleteI thought your mom was your friend, I was thinking to myself, oh they look so alike, maybe they are related when I looked down and saw that she was your mother. I was in shock! She looks way too young to have a grown daughter!! Great genes in your family
ReplyDeleteWilliamsburg has gotten very trendy over the years. Great neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteIf you love W'burg, you'll love Smith St in Carrol Gardens. There's so much to see there.
Glad you had fun. My mom would never go anywhere with me lol!
How did you style your hair in the first picture?
ReplyDeleteAdore your posts about NYC - What a great city :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post on my city ☺ I ♥ NYC too! I like going back home to people watch, the young Asian women are always my favorite, they seem to have so much style to me.

I just discovered you blog yesterday and fell in LOVE!!
ReplyDeleteI live in NY, recently moved to LI from Brooklyn. EGG was my go to place for breakfast. I would wait for 1hr because it was just sooooooooo worth it. Those beignets and the hash browns are to DIE for.
Did I say I was loving your blog yet?
It's so dope seeing the eyes of NYC through people who aren't from here. Looks like you had a fun trip. I love that you traveled off the beaten path of most tourists and visited Williamsburg. I'm not sure how much time you spent there but Williamsburg is one of the best places in Brooklyn for vintage and thrift shopping. Did you get to check out Beacon's Closet or Buffalo Exchange?
ReplyDeleteOh and, the next time you're here check out Amy Ruth's for Soul Food.
ReplyDeleteWow, you and your mom look a lot alike! I second the motion of everyone who'd mentioned Amy Ruth's as the place to check out for soul food. I had my engagement party there and my rehearsal dinner at Sylvia's. Can you tell my husband and I like soul food, lol?!

That food looked sooo delicious! I'm hungry lol! Gotta love Williamsburg, although it's total hispterville. Either way, nice pics!
