On how she started:
"I started making jewelry a little over a year ago, I started with making peacock feather earrings and selling them on my blog. They got a lot of attention so I figured I would try to make more things and since then I've evolved and the business has really taken off. In MY opinion, DIANA ROSS had the most memorable afro! I absolutely ADORE curly afro's and her fabolous tresses give me the ultimate confidence! A true DIVA!

ReplyDeleteof the times, back in the day, the only 'fro i remember is don cornellius from the re-runs of soul train... lol... it was so perfect like the foam on a microphone... but, as fierce ladies of the 70's... pam grier as foxy brown, tamara dobson as cleopatra jones and diana ross... and my mom (her's was real)!

ReplyDeleteAs far as 'fros go, Ms. Angela Davis is an ICON. Her Lfro is equally as if not more famous then her polital andsocial involvements in the 60s and 70s. Her fro is the one that many twa want to grow up to be. Lol I'm also digging Esperanza Spalding's really cute fro.
ReplyDeleteI've already been a fan of Rachel Stewart's jewelry but haven't had it in the budget to purchase any pieces just yet. Anyway, on to the question...for me I'd have to go with Michael Jackson during his younger(pre-pubescent) Jackson Five years. It was so neat and symmetrical. I loved it!

ReplyDeleteThe two divas Chaka Khan and Diana Ross IMMEDIATELY came to mind for nominations of most memorable fro. As far as modern day fros go...my picks are Jill Scott (pre-relaxer/flat-iron/protein treatment or whatever it is) and Leela James...drool, lol

I do second Pam Grier because every time I see her old movies I just want to take a karate class and kick someone's butt. I also loved the Sesame Street cartoon of the little girl who went to the store for "a loaf of bread, a container of milk and a stick of butter" that is the 1st time I saw an afro on TV and I was so excited!!

I was having a difficult time with my hair and after seeing this photo I remembered WHY I went natural in the first place. She definitely has the MOST memorable Afro and the best part is its ALL HERS.
