The hardest part was growing out my layers; the sides and crown area is still shorter than the rest, but it is catching up much faster than I thought it would!
I thought my ends were going to be in super yucky condition after not trimming in 7 months, but surprisingly they weren't as bad as I expected. I normally get about a 1inch trim so that everything is nice and even, and to rid myself of thin, see-through areas. - All of these pics are PRE-TRIM
I think I am giving up on pressing my own hair, the longer it gets; the worse I get at it. Not to mention it takes entirely too long.
I used my favorite products; Sebastian Potion Number 9 Leave In, Frederick Fekkai Glossing Cream, and Aveda Heat Protectant - My hair feels soft, smooth, and has tons of body even with those products [which is why I love them].
Another gratuitous movement shotAll of these pics were taken PRE-TRIM; I like to wrap my hair overnight FIRST because it gives me a better idea of how much needs to come off [wrapping smooths my hair quite nicely]. I will most likely have an inch taken off all over. The blue shirt is positioned about an inch ABOVE waist-length.
Love it! Your hair looks so healthy!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Keep up the great work :)
ReplyDeletegreat job on not pressing it for 7mths! I'm trying to make it to September and I just pressed mine 2 weeks ago. It is now curly again, and I'm going to try to go until my birthday, (Sept 22nd) without any direct heat on my hair.
ReplyDeleteI hope to be BSL along with you soon.
congrats

ReplyDeleteLovely, just lovely. keep up the good work and loving your natural hair.
ReplyDeleteWOW that looks good! what is a good safe flat iron to use for pressing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! What's the purpose behind not shampooing for a month?
ReplyDeleteCongrats, it looks beautiful! You are definitely inspiring to go on a no heat regimen for the next couple of months, especially as it's getting hotter.

ReplyDeletei just wanna say... I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!! it has inspired me to start being a little more health concious when it come to my hair. i have been natural for a while... maybe since i was 16? (and i'm 20 now) one quick question. how do you sleep on a braid out? i usually just use a scarf after doing flat twists. but those are finer curl/waves
ReplyDeleteoh and good luck with your next length check :)
You hair really is an ode to life! It is so shiny and thick, and look at its length! So unique even when it's flat ironed. Very inspiring.

ReplyDeleteYour hair is very pretty and it looks very healthy GOD BLESS SIS!!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you deal with any scalp/itching issues during the month period of wearing your hair straight?
ReplyDelete@Tiffany; I don't really have that problem. Could be the fact that I use Sulfate free shampoo [Keracare Hydrating Shampoo], and the Ayurvedic Pre Poo Regimen [I have a post here w/my pre poo recipe]
ReplyDeleteThe combination of using a non-drying shampoo, ayurvedic pre poo's, and limiting my use of oils while my hair is straight keeps my hair from having that "itchy, dirty" feeling.
looks amazing.
