A lot of my subscribers want to know a bit more about the "history" of my hair. So I decided to put together this video in hopes that it will answer a lot of the questions some of you may have!
FAQ's
Are you natural? - Yes I am 100% natural, I had a relaxer umpteen years ago (10 maybe?) and I hated it. It completely changed my texture so I never got another one. Although I didn't officially "big chop", most of my hair fell out from weaves and heat abuse [I was an animal]. Now don't get me wrong, I wasn't completely bald, but it was horrific, think fuzzy newborn baby bird. Yeah, that was me.
When did you start your hair journey? - I have been an avid lhcf lurker since August 2008, but I didn't start applying these concepts until December of 2008 [I needed a few more months for rewiring].
How long is your hair, and what is your hair-type? - My hair is bra-strap length. And although I don't care too much for hair-typing anymore, for all intensive purposes I am a 3/C-4/A
i watched this video you made a couple of days ago..you did a really good job with it. your hair was nice before, but its inspiring that you decided to learn ways in which to make it healthy and something you are proud of.
ReplyDelete@Raven thank you soooo much!! I wish I would have taken more pics of it in it's damaged state...talking 'bout shredded wheat boooyyyy...lol
ReplyDeleteI long to get the length back to my natural hair. Not taking proper care of it.. it went from shoulder length to ear length to shorter. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna try to implement some of your suggestions to try and get my long healthy natural hair back. You're inspiring. I love your hair and your story!
I just recently got the perm cut out of my hair. I have about 2 inches of lenght. What did you do with your hair when it was in, how you say, "horrific, think fuzzy newborn baby bird", stage in order to get to the lenght that shows up at the portion of the video that says starting point? I'm wearing comb coils now
ReplyDelete@Joyful1 I wore my hair in braids until it was neck-length [this was before LHCF, so I didn't know of any other options] - Once it was neck-length, I wore mostly up-do's because my hair was really too thin for anything else.
ReplyDeleteI found your blog thru C+C so I'm catching up and I absolutely love evertything I'm reading! Your story is inspiring for a long term transitioner like me. Thanks for sharing your HAIRstory!
ReplyDeletei must say that your hair didn't look damaged. How were you able to get the "straight" look w/out using a relaxer?
ReplyDeleteDo you have any pictures of the braided styles that you wore while transitioning?
ReplyDeleteHow did you achieve the bouncy curls in the pics where you're in the yellow dress?
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU SO MUCH! You and my best friend who is also going natural inspired me to do the same! Today was the last time I will perm my hair or wear weaves! Thank you again for showing me true beauty!
ReplyDeleteWow, quite a journey, but do you know what, I think you look so amazingly pretty nautral and curly, still very pretty straight, but you carry your curls in a cute yet sassy/edgy way and look conifdent, happy and stunning!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOUR HAIR and now you are my Hairspiration ;-)
Yea, it really didn't look damaged at all, surprisingly, but I really love you with your natural hair. It is so cute and unique! I feel like it fits the person who shines through when I read your blog. Great vid!
ReplyDeleteYour hair is absolutely beautiful. I have been natural for about 2 years now and have yet to wear my hair in its natural state. It seems I have tried every product on the market and my pockets have gotten much lighter from it that I finally just started getting weaves and wearing wigs. When you blow dry do you not use a dryer with a comb attachment? I can never blowdry without the knots on the ends. It always no matter what feels like straw when I am done and worse when I try to airdry. Help? Do you have have any YT videos of your hair being blow dried?
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your blog. I think you have something really, really special. Honest and Inspiring. Keep blogging & Keep sharing. Latus~
